Hooray: Where did you go on Honeymoon?
Jess: We went to Cannonier Beachcomber resort in MauritiusHooray: How difficult was it coming to the decision of where to go on honeymoon?
Jess: Making this decision was extremely difficult! We are both the type of people that love to keep active on holiday and to do as much as we possibly can, however, for our honeymoon we were concerned that we might be completely exhausted after all the wedding planning, so we considered a much more relaxed holiday but we were worried that we might get bored if we chose a destination that wasn’t a big city. Our second concern was that the wedding planning was taking up all our time (and our budget!), so we were worried that a trip to a big city would take even more planning and budgeting daily while we were on holiday.

Our final decision for Mauritius was based on us deciding to take a trip where we could just relax together.  The great thing about choosing Cannonier in Mauritius was that this was an all-inclusive holiday, which meant all our meals and drinks were included in the package. It was so fantastic to not even take out my purse while on holiday! When we left our bill was R0! We paid for the full package months before the wedding so it was great to not have to worry about more budgeting!Hooray: Whose choice was it? Or was it a surprise?
Jess: It was a joint decision.

Hooray: Did you have a backup destination in mind?
Jess: We had a lot of destinations on the cards but our back up was a trip to Spain.Hooray: Did you tailor make your honeymoon yourself or did you use a travel agent?
Jess: When planning we were throwing around the options of Spain and Mauritius. As we had never travelled to these destinations before, nor did we have any friends who had either, we opted to use a travel agent. Using a travel agent helps when you don’t know the destination that you plan to travel to, I would say that if you plan to visit somewhere you have been before, or somewhere where friends or family have been, then you can plan the trip yourself as you already know the area, or you could have friends or family that can give you some tips on the best areas to stay in. But, if you are venturing into unknown territory then I would recommend a travel agent. If you are also planning a trip with a lot of different places to stop at, for example a trip through Italy, then I would also recommend a travel agent to help plan the right amount of time in each place, as well as how you get from place to place.Hooray: How long after your wedding did you leave for honeymoon? What made you decide on that length of time?
Jess: We had our wedding on a Saturday and left for our honeymoon on the following Tuesday. On our wedding night we stayed at our wedding venue so we returned home on Sunday. We were wanting to leave for our honeymoon on the Monday but our flight was at 6:30 in the morning and we did not want to rush packing on the Sunday we returned home, so we gave ourselves a day to breathe and left on the 6:30 flight on Tuesday. If we had an evening flight we would have chosen to leave on the Monday.Hooray: Was your honeymoon all you dreamed of and more?
Jess: Absolutely! Our big concern when choosing our honeymoon destination was that we were worried that we would want to keep busy all the time, however we were completely exhausted and we spent our honeymoon relaxing by the pool, drinking cocktails and eating from the all-inclusive buffet! It was wonderful and we truly felt like we were in paradise. It was the perfect time to relax after all the chaos a wedding can bring and just have time as a newlywed couple!Hooray: How long was your honeymoon?
Jess: 7 days.

Hooray: If you could give your honeymoon a theme what would it be? Adventure or chill?
Jess: Chilling in paradise!Hooray: Your top 5 things to pack with you for your honeymoon
Some pretty dresses and heels to get all dolled up for dinner
A good book to enjoy next to the poolHooray: Your biggest highlight of your honeymoon?
Jess: Relaxing in paradise and getting a lovely tan! And of course, spending time with my new husband 😉
