Getting your skin wedding ready

We are heading into winter which means what? Dry and flakey skin. EEW! This is not ideal for your wedding day and your make up artist will have a tough time applying your makeup if the skin is not in good condition. Christy and I chatted to directory member Kezia of Blend Hair and makeup and asked for advice on what bride’s can do to prepare their skin.

This is what Kezia had to say about prepping your skin during the lead up to your wedding.

The best way to ensure a flawless makeup application, is to ensure your skincare routine is up to scratch!

Whenever I do a brides makeup trial, I try and encourage a facial or two before her wedding day. Not only will she feel pampered, but her skin will glow in all the right places and will help with an easier makeup application.

Our skin is the most exposed organ in our bodies, and most of us tend to forget this and don’t give it the TLC it so needs.

A bare minimum skin care routine should include cleanser, toner and moisturizer. A monthly visit to your beauty salon for a great facial or peel will boost your skins condition.

The key to success is continuity! Your skin needs time and effort to achieve its optimal condition, transforming your complexion so that your makeup applies smoothly. Your makeup artist will love your clean, supple and luminous canvas for your makeup application!

We couldn’t advocate facials and peels without experiencing it for ourselves, so we visited Jocelyn from One on One Skincare who gave us each a peel. You can check out our Insta story to see how that went.

As you can see above, there are many benefits to the chemical peel.

The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world, and was performed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to help people achieve smoother, more beautiful skin. Today, chemical facial peels are popular because they offer nearly immediate results and can be performed as an outpatient procedure. No needles, no doctors, no recovery time.

As you can see, Derryn has very sensitive skin and came up with a stress rash. The product doesn’t even go on that part of the neck, this was simply the body reacting. This happens to lots of people when they have a peel. It goes away. 🙂

A facial, says joss, is like a blow wave. It styles your hair until you wash it again. Facials are lovely and relaxing and certainly serve a purpose in keeping your skin healthy and glowing. The peel just takes it a step further. Don’t think you are going to relax with the girls though. It tingles and if your skin is particularly dry or damaged it can sting. But it’s so worth it!!

We both loved the texture of our skin, and I was complimented a couple days after when friends noticed how good my skin was looking. If you want to look your best for your wedding day and if want the make up application to go smoothly and beautifully, we highlight recommend a pre-wedding peel.
