So, let’s hear more from beautiful Marielle.
HEEEY! Please introduce yourselves to our readers…
My name is Marielle, and Marielle Catherine Photography is my biz, We do Wedding photography and recently branched out to do Videography too!
Hooray: Tell us a bit more about yourself
Marielle: I love spending time with family, I have two puppies who are my children and A bunch of plants I’m working tirelessly to keep alive!
Hooray: How did you get into the wedding industry?
Marielle: I started out doing portraits and one day I was asked if I could do a wedding, and I was so young and said heck yes! I had no idea what to expect, 7 years later and I am full-time photographing love stories and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Hooray: What inspires you?
Marielle: I am honestly inspired by all the arts, Film, floral, home decor, embroidery and painting. I love my fellow photogs and indeed they are inspiring as well! I love following Wedding blogs and Trendy magazines too!
Hooray: Running your own business can be hard, do you have a daily routine?
Marielle: This is something that people don’t talk about often enough. Working from home is a love-hate relationship! I sometimes find myself working from the morning to the night in PJ’s and other times I like to look at the bright side, at least you can drink at work??
Hooray: Tell us about your ideal wedding client.
Marielle: Honestly having couples who appreciate the arts is my ultimate, ideally I want couples who aren’t afraid to have the wedding THEY want and be daringly different. Modern lovers with a sense of adventure and love.
Hooray: What do you love most about your job?
Marielle: It’s so rewarding to capture special moments, I love going home and seeing the images I have captured and creating them into a love story. Sending off galleries have me feeling all the feels!
Hooray: Can you describe your style?
Marielle: Documentary style photos, with a light-mood edit.
Hooray: If there was one thing you could change about the wedding industry, what would it be and why?
Marielle: Pinterest. It’s overwhelming and I don’t think it gives brides a realistic idea of what their wedding will actually be like.
Hooray: The mistake you made that has taught you the most valuable lesson?
Marielle: BACK-UP everything!
Hooray: If you had to get married what would be the ONE non-negotiable?
Marielle: Obvs my photographer (HA!)
Hooray: Where do you see yourself and your company this time next year?
Marielle: I see us travelling abroad – please COVID – be nice!
Hooray: If you could be anything else in the wedding industry, what would you be and why?
Marielle: Hmmmm, I would defo do florals!
Hooray: Tell us about your most embarrassing moment on the job.
Marielle: Most embarrassing moment would have to be falling down a trap door! YEP…….
Hooray: Do you have any friends in the industry? Tell us who and how they impact you in this beautiful business.
Marielle: I do, there are so many people that I absolutely adore! Hooray weddings, Oh Happy Day, my photog and video friends. Let’s just say we keep each other sane and afloat!
Hooray: 2020 was a hard year for all, what do you think the wedding industry can learn from this?
Marielle: I think we can learn that no matter how well established you are or how great your work, the world is an ever-changing place! I think we all quickly learnt that we need to change with the times or be left behind.
Hooray: If you could go back in time to when you first started out in the wedding industry, and tell yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Marielle: Don’t look too hard at others and what their work is like. Just do YOU!
Hooray: What is your favourite way to unwind after a wedding?
Marielle: Giiiirl, I have to edit one image before I can sleep and then I pass out and usually take the Sunday off to relax and gain momentum.
Hooray: Tell us about the last time you were really, really proud of yourself/job you completed.
Marielle: Honestly, after every single wedding I throw myself a celebratory party (mostly consisting of wine and series)
Hooray: Lastly, what is your favourite part of the wedding day/wedding planning process.
Marielle: My favourite part of the process is a toss-up between seeing the groom see his bride for the first time – tears every time! and the creative shoot! I honestly love the chance to create some magic!
Marielle, thank you so much for sharing more of a behind-the-scenes look into your life with us today!
